Easy Father's Day Craft With CFA Containers

I was given the challenge to reuse salad containers from my favorite place, Chick-fil-a. Before using the containers, I had to enjoy the new Southwest Spicy Chicken Salad! It is so good. It has spicy chicken, corn, black beans, and other delicious vegetables. Add the Salsa dressing and tortilla strips and you have one amazing salad. It reminded me of a chicken taco salad that I make at home.
Once I finished my fantastic salad, I took the containers home and washed them out. I had an idea of what to make but still had to think of colors and such. I wanted to make a Father's Day gift for the kids to give to their Daddy and also something with a beach theme.

As you can see, I chose a blue color to paint the containers. I simply sprayed them, including the lids, and let them set out to dry in the sun.

Once dried. I found the pictures I wanted to use. First, I found a black and white picture of the kids at the beach and one of the kids together. I cute each picture and glued them in the center of the containers. Just put the lids to the side, that comes later.
Next, I added sand from Ocean Isle, NC beach. This is our favorite beach and the only one my kids know. I wanted to make a special keepsake to remind us of our beach travels. I put glue in the container and sprinkled some sand on top and let it dry overnight.

I then added shells that we collect every year using hot glue. I chose ones that are special to us. I added some Scrabble letters that I had on hand to spell OCEAN ISLE. Here is the finished project! I LOVE IT!

FATHER'S DAY is coming fast..... Are you ready? Here are two easy and quick crafts that I came up with using the Chick-fil-a containers. They are guaranteed to make any Dad smile!

This catch-all tray is so simple. First, I took some duct tape I had laying around and put it over the center of the lid. Then, I took a favorite photo of the kids that my husband loves and glued it to the center of the lid. I covered it with clear contact paper and added DAD in Scrabble tiles. Everything was found at the house. He can then use this to hold his wallet, keys, etc when he comes home everyday.
The other lid was made into a photo frame. I just added the Scrabble tiles and will add a favorite photo of the kids with my husband later.

The last gift I made was the kid's favorite and I think my husband will really find it to be a special gift. I used old refrigerator magnets to spell out DAD and hot glued them to the bottom. I added the age of the kids too. The kids and I talked about what items we should glue to the shadow box for Daddy. They each chose a special toy among other items for me to hot glue around the edges.
Here are the items and reasons:
1. Car and Pony - "Daddy plays cars and ponies with us"
2. Cross - "Daddy tells me about Jesus"
3. Bandaid - "Daddy fixes my boo-boos"
4. Crayons - "Daddy loves to color with me"
5. Fish - "Daddy takes me to the beach"
6. Money - "Daddy buys to stuff"
7. Screws - "Daddy fixes stuff for me"
8. Puzzle Pieces - "We love Daddy to pieces!"
* I added stickers that remind me of my husband. They say HOPE, LOVE, FAITH, etc.

Here is where the finished projects will be once the kids give them to him on Father's Day. It was so much fun to reuse the containers.

Thank you Chick-fil-a!! *I received a free coupon for the salad and was given the challenge through Chick-fil-a Mom's Panel. *
